Double Feature: The Screaming Woman & The Monkey's Paw
Synopses: In The Screaming Woman, Maggie is sent on an errand to her Aunt’s house before the big Thanksgiving dinner. She takes a short-cut through a lot, a place where she and her friends run and play games. But today she hears the terrifying sounds of a screaming woman buried alive. Frantic, she desperately runs home to tell her parents about the screaming woman, begging for their help. They promptly dismiss her cries and story saying it is just a tall tale, courtesy of her imagination. Daddy finally agrees to go to the lot, but he can’t hear the screaming woman, and sends her to her room. Alone and miserable Maggie tries to figure out her next move and she decides to go door-to-door to find out which woman is missing. So far no luck, but then she reaches the Nesbitt residence. The house is quiet, too quiet and the lady of the house is nowhere to be found. Could it be Mrs. Nesbitt who is buried alive? Is there even a screaming woman to begin with?
The Monkey's Paw is a horror story about three wishes. A family is gifted a wish-granting talisman (the monkey's paw) and warned not to use it. Ignoring this warning, and without consideration for the consequences, they begin to use the wishes. The wishes are all granted at a dreadful price, leaving the family broken.
The Argument: Growing up you think that if there is a crisis, an emergency, your family will believe you, that they alone are the ones you can trust and depend on in this life. But there comes a time when one realizes that even if and when no one believes you - you have to believe in yourself.
