Speak I Will (Staged Reading)
Speak I Will (Staged Reading)
Synopsis: Speak I Will is a collection of Fractured Shakespeare monologues that rearranges and re-contextualizes the words of Shakespeare to find fresh meaning from the age-old text. Drawing text from 32 of Shakespeare’s plays, 4 Sonnets and Double Falsehood (written by Lewis Theobald, based on Shakespeare’s “lost play” Cardenio),the actors combine the words of Beatrice, King Lear, Lady Macbeth, Henry V, Katherina “The Shrew” and more, to explore issues of gender, power, identity, and love.
The Argument: Have you ever dreamt of a story and characters that you thought would never have the opportunity to see come to life on the stage? Those stories, lost in years of imagination, can be found at the Helen Borgers 2025 New Works Festival. The time is right to see your show, your lost dreams, on our stage!
